Nuffield Trust – increasing influence and visibility

Following a period of transition and the arrival of a new management team, the Nuffield Trust needed to establish a leading role in the debate about healthcare reform, whilst protecting its reputation as a safe haven for discussion within senior policy circles.
To inform management decisions, we were asked to provide a comprehensive and independent audit of the Trust's existing communications, to capture the views and needs of a cross section of senior stakeholders, and include recommendations on future opportunities in public affairs, marketing, media, web and publications.
The audit led directly to the creation of a new post to lead on the Trust's communications. To bridge the gap, the Trust also asked us to provide interim strategic and planning support, and to advise on their search for the right candidate.
Following the audit, the Trust has seen a significant growth in media coverage, web traffic and newsletter subscribers. It has achieved this without increasing its communications budget, a central aim of the audit.
